Maurizio Avola is an Associate Professor at the University of Catania. His research interests cover various aspects of social inequality, including labor market dynamics, migration patterns, geographical inequalities, and local development. He is also a member of the Senate of the University of Catania since 2016, as well as the Coordinator of the first-level University Master's degree in "Customer Care and Consumer Protection" since 2016. Additionally, he serves as a board member of the Italian Society of Economic Sociology (SISEC).

Davide Arcidiacono is an Associate Professor at the Department of Political and Social Sciences at the University of Catania. His research interests include social innovation, digital transition, local development, and school/work transitions. He has participated in numerous national and international research projects and is a member of the Foundational Economy Collective. He was a member of the Expert Group on the European directive on Platform Work and served as a Panel Member for the selection of projects for the ERC Starting Grant 2022. He is a member of the scientific committee of several editorial series such as Open Sociology (Franco Angeli) and Motus Studi (Meltemi), and collaborates as an editorialist with Fortune magazine.

His work also explores the challenges and opportunities of trans-local social ties and their potential contribution to regional development.

Francesca Montemagno is a Post-doctoral Researcher at the University of Catania, specializing in political communication, electoral systems, and political representation. Her research interests and academic training are focused on these areas, and she has published several articles and research papers in these fields. Before starting her academic career, Francesca worked for three years as a member of the staff of the Vice President of the Sicilian Regional Assembly.
